Even with the numerous top 2024 prospects that will be officially visiting the Miami Hurricanes during the month of June, 2025 recruiting has also begun.

To be clear, the 2024 recruits taking official visits will be a priority for the foreseeable future. They need to be with many of them making college decisions fairly soon. That being the case, an elite 2025 prospect like Chris Ewald, Jr. will be a priority for the Miami coaching staff.

He’s been ranked as the No. 33 player in the nation by Rivals and also the third best cornerback and fifth overall player in the state of Florida.

He plays for powerhouse Chaminade-Madonna in Broward County. Certainly a school that Mario Cristobal and his staff knows well with a few of the prospects they have been recruiting being Joshisa Trader and Jeremiah Smith, two of the nation’s best for the class of 2024 and two recruits Miami would love to add to their 2024 commitment list.

As for Ewald, he’s going on a tour of schools with Miami being the first of those trips, and that will take place today.

Ewald was identified early by many programs, including the Michigan Wolverines coaching staff. They really went after the young man hard and Ewald made a pledge to Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines on Dec. 16, 2022.

That did not deter many other schools from recruiting Ewald, including Miami, Notre Dame, Florida State, Tennessee, Florida, Southern California and many others checking in on him during the May Evaluation Period. Perhaps that’s why he’s taking some of these unofficial visits.

And that’s also where the Canes must make up ground. Yes, the Canes will be working hard to secure top recruits like Dre’lon Miller and Kamarion Franklin this upcoming weekend, but Ewald’s visit helps set the stage for Miami’s efforts to recruit one of the top prospects in the class of 2025, too.
