2025 Sunshine State Defensive Tackle Discusses Top College Choices

Defensive line prospect Jarquez Carter talks recruiting

The Sunshine State is one of the most fertile recruiting grounds in the entire country. College football programs from across the nation recruit in the state of Florida and that is what's happening with defensive lineman Jarquez Carter

The Newberry (HS) standout holds offers from schools from all across the country. Carter has been offered by now-national champion Michigan and runner-up Washington, plus Miami, UCF, USF, Tennessee, Louisville, Southern California, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Penn State among others.

The 6-foot-2 and 284-pound prospect spoke with AllHurricanes on the latest in his recruitment. Let's jump right into it.

"I would say Miami, UCF, Notre Dame, Michigan, USC, and Tennessee are the schools recruiting me the hardest right now." With junior days coming later this month, the next question is regarding the junior days he could attend.

"Miami, Florida State, Alabama, USF, and Florida have all invited me to attend a junior day."

With Nick Saban retiring from Alabama, and the rest of the invites being in-state for Carter, do not be shocked to hear Carter's name as a Miami visitor.

But what exactly is the recruiting pitch the coaches recruiting him telling him and why do they want him to attend their school?

"Coaches tell me, I am an explosive player on the defensive line and could create havoc on opposing offenses." Carter discussed what he is looking for in a school. Carter went into more detail.

"I am looking at the best place where the coaching staff can develop me the most."

Carter doesn't have any favorites in his recruitment, nor does he have a timeline in mind for cutting down his list of schools and ultimately making his college decision. He did mention that distance is not a factor for his college choice. Carter also took a moment to mention his playing strengths and what he needs to improve.

"My strengths are how fast I can get off the ball, and use my explosiveness, but a weakness that I am working on improving is I'll sometimes over reading a play."

Football fans should expect Carter's recruitment will be a battle to the end. He's one of Florida's best 2025 prospects and college football programs from across the nation will be coming after him.
