Decision day came for talented quarterback recruit Luke Moga of Phoenix (Ariz.) Sunnyslope, and he selected the Oregon Ducks.

He was a prime target of the Miami Hurricanes and it just did not work out for the Orange and Green.

Now, the Hurricanes have already secured the services of talented signal caller Judd Anderson from Gray (Ga.) Jones County. That was step one to a successful quarterback recruiting class. They still need two new quarterbacks to join the 2024 roster, one way or another.

But where does Mario Cristobal and offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson go from here? It’s early, so let’s think about the obvious points first, with a prevailing theme being vital.

It’s not even May and the spring evaluation period has just begun. It’s early in the recruiting cycle folks. That’s why the following point could prove to be most interesting.

There’s likely to be at least one quarterback that Dawson and the Miami staff begins to take a serious interest in this spring. Whom that might be, that’s up in the air until otherwise proven. Again, the point remains that it’s still early. Two more things to note.

Do not discount Miami attempting to flip a signal caller committed elsewhere. There will be several options to choose from, and it’s not like Cristobal and his staff haven’t been successful within that arena just recently.

From the 2023 class, wide receiver Nathaniel Joseph (Clemson), running back Mark Fletcher (Ohio State), defensive end Collins Acheampong (Michigan), offensive lineman Tommy Kinsler (Florida), and defensive tackle Joshua Horton (North Carolina) all pledged to other programs before signing with the Canes.

Even if Miami does not find another prep signal caller it likes, the Transfer Portal could be the answer. That point always needs to be brought up because that’s the era that college football has entered.
