It's becoming a heated week in recruiting between Miami's Mario Cristobal and Florida State's Mike Norvell.

The Hurricanes are hosting a big recruiting event this weekend. A Florida State commit is planning to attend.

Miami Central star Lawayne McCoy will be at Miami's cookout on Saturday. The 4-Star ATH (likely to play receiver in college) has been committed to the Seminoles since April 13th. The Hurricanes haven't stopped recruiting the local standout, hoping to flip his commitment from their in-state rivals.

McCoy hauled in 20 receptions for 491 yards and 3 touchdowns as a high school junior. He was a youth teammate on the Miami Gardens Ravens with several class of 2024 Hurricanes commits. Many believe that bond could sway him towards joining Miami's class.

Meanwhile, the Seminoles are taking a swing at one of Miami's top verbal pledges.

4-Star defensive tackle Artavius Jones, who committed to Miami earlier this month, visited FSU on Thursday. Jones lives near Tallahassee in Blountstown, Florida.

According to Zach Blostein at Noles 247, FSU defensive line coach Odell Haggins is leading the charge and trying to chip away with Jones.

This leaves me curious to see whether Jones will attend Miami's Saturday cookout. It isn't mandatory, but several current Hurricanes verbal commits will be there.

These won't be the only Miami vs. FSU battles between now and National Signing Day. The Seminoles surely haven't stopped recruiting Miami commit JoJo Trader. Both schools will be trying to flip Jeremiah Smith from his Ohio State commitment.

Get your popcorn ready.
