Prospect Profile: DT Recruit Dimitry Nicolas

One of Miami's top recruiting prospects would be Dimitry Nicolas.

The state of Florida has been no stranger to producing top-notch defensive tackle prospects.

One of the best from the class of 2024 would be Dimitry Nicolas from Opa Locka (Fla.) Norland. He was at Monsignor Pace prior to the recent transfer.

The powerful young man has already garnered several offers, and seeing videos like the following one, placed things into perspective as to just how strong he’s already become.

That power, combined with a frame that’s up to 6-foot-3 and 280 pounds, have made Nicolas one of most heavily recruited prospects in Florida.

Some of the offers he’s received include Georgia, North Carolina State, Colorado, Michigan State, Michigan, Oregon, Florida, Auburn, Texas A&M and Pittsburgh, plus his hometown school as well.

That offer from the Hurricanes was only two days after Mario Cristobal moved on from Oregon to become Miami’s new head coach. That should place additional perspective into how important Nicolas was to Miami’s future football plans.

He was recently back on the Miami campus for an unofficial visit on Jan. 21, so the Canes have certainly kept the attention of Nicolas. There’s been a reason Miami has been recruiting him hard.

The film for this rising defensive tackle talent showed how Nicolas performed well when he attacked vertically; he quickly hit gaps and created havoc. When in direct competition with an opposing offensive lineman, the heavy hands of Nicolas helped to move that player out of the way with sheer power, and sometimes with various moves.

Also as important, Nicolas showcased a consistent motor that allowed his athleticism to shine as he penetrated into the opponent’s backfield. Look for Nicolas to continue to be one of the top prospects in the state of Florida.
