Ryan Mack: Under Armour Practice Observations

In this story:
Whenever there's an Under Armour All-America Game, it's difficult to say which players will play with poise and technique. During today's Under Armour practice, at least one of those players would be Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Saint Thomas Aquinas cornerback Ryan Mack.
The Miami Hurricanes signee is an example that continuous hard work pays off. His footwork deserves applause even against some of the nation's elite receivers. Mack does not panic when the ball draws near.
He sticks to fundamentals and reaches for the football just before it arrives. It doesn't matter if he's in a trail technique, driving on a slant, or stride-for-stride with a receiver during a deep pass.

The most valuable aspect of how Mack went about his business today would be playing tight man coverage. Not holding constantly like many young cornerbacks is the first part of the good news, as many other cornerbacks were constantly grabbing jerseys. He mirrors the wide receiver as they run. That's when his football IQ kicks in.
Mack also has patience, not jumping on the first sign of a receiver making a cut and setting him up for a double move. Finally, it is no big deal to Mack to make a play, and then another play, and just go about his business. He will flip the football over to the referee and get back in the cornerback line to do another one-on-one rep. Love it!
Looking ahead to Mack playing for the Canes, he's let it be known that he is going to learn multiple cornerback spots. Mack is going to be a valuable player for the Miami football program.
