BREAKING: University Of Michigan Issues Statement On Firing Of Chris Partridge

In a shocking announcement, the University of Michigan has fired another one of Jim Harbaugh's staff members effective immediately.

The wild ride surrounding the sign-stealing saga continues in Ann Arbor. Earlier this afternoon, athletic director Warde Manuel issued a statement indicating that linebackers coach Chris Partridge had been fired. A short while ago, the University of Michigan released an additional statement:

"From the outset, our focus has been on seeking due process and allowing the NCAA to conduct a fair and deliberate investigation. Although the Big Ten has closed its investigation, we are continuing to cooperate with the NCAA as it moves forward with its ongoing investigation. Consistent with our commitment to integrity, we will continue to take the appropriate actions, including disciplinary measures, based on information we obtain. Earlier today, Michigan Athletics relieved Chris Partridge of his duties as a member of the Michigan Football staff. Due to employee privacy laws, we are unable to comment further."

Although U-M indicated that it could not yet elaborate on what led to the firing of Partridge, there's clearly something that was discovered in the NCAA investigation into sign-stealing that played a role here. Whether or not other members of Harbaugh's staff were involved remains to be seen, but this is certainly not a great sign that Connor Stalions acted alone in his efforts.
