Strengths: One word surmises Adams strength on the football field: Playmaker. From his first practice when he arrived at MSU Adams has made plays. I bet he breaks up the passing of the butter dish at the dinner table. He lives to make plays and he has that elusive “It†factory.
In the 1st quarter of the MSU vs. UM game the Wolverines had the ball at their own 35 facing a 2nd and 12 with 4:20 on the clock. Adams is playing the
far side and the play calls for the away UM WR to run a 20 yard route. Adams reads it, goes over and swats the ball away WITH HIS RIGHT HAND. It was NOT an
interception, but that is as big of a play a CB can make. That was an NFL All Pro play.
Weakness: Let’s head to the OSU game. In the 1st quarter the Buckeyes had a 3rd and ten at their own 27 with 14:21 on the clock.  The Buckeyes were in the
shotgun, with one offset RB in who was on the away side of Adams. The TE comes in motion and the short pass is made to him. Adams makes a great read
and comes up to hit him. Not wrapping up and making the traditional tackle, Adams goes for the spectacular hit and literally bounces off the Buckeye.
Max Bullough comes over and makes the textbook tackle after Adams failure. In that play you see the weakness of Adams. He has the amazing ability to make big plays and big mistakes. He is not big and can be his biggest enemy.
Final Analysis: I was recently asked in a question and answer column if I thought Adams should be a captain and if I thought he would. My answer caused a weird reaction when I said, “No and no.â€Â I didn’t hate on Adams at all. I was simply stating a fact. He is a great ball player who will play in the NFL. He is not a leader.
How good he becomes is up to him. He is not a leader, but is a playmaker. That doesn’t make him a bad person, not everyone is a leader. If Adams dedicates
himself to football and makes being a true leader his ceiling is limitless. He has MILLIONS of dollars on the line this year, as scouts are looking at every part of his game and person.
