Strengths: Let’s start with the UM game from last year.  In the 4th quarter the Wolverines were facing a first and ten with 4:40 on the clock and the ball was at the UM 35. Lewis made a great read, jumped the throw and scored a pick six TD!
Lewis has awesome ball skills. He finds the ball and anytime he is on the field you can count on him being part of the action! The best compliment you can give Lewis is that he is a ball player.
Lewis never walks off the field with gas left in his tank. He is all out. He loves the game and plays it with a passion. I can think of several players (most former, but some current) who could play in the NFL if they had his heart.
Weakness: Some would point to the personal foul on the Wisconsin punter in the B1G championship game and they would be wrong. He was trying to make a play and you can’t fault that. To find a play that best shows his weakness let’s stay right in the UM game again. In the first play of the 2nd quarter the Wolverines had a 2nd and 10 at their own 35. It was a reverse and Lewis came in way after the play for a late hit. You can also see him not wrapping up and tackling. He will go for the ESPN Sportscenter hit and guys will simply spin and get away. Lewis loves the game, and his aggression is a good thing, but it hurts the team when he doesn’t make the simple tackle because he wants to blow people up.
It doesn’t help the team when he can’t control himself and gets a late hit. There is an old saying that you can’t have a fire without some wildfire and I get it. This is a game of emotion, but Lewis is to good for those mistakes.
Final Analysis: It is easy to point out the weakness on Lewis, but let’s be fair and remember he is ONLY going to be a true junior. Although I am not calling for it, if Lewis improves at the same rate he has his first two years he could be leaving early for the NFL. If he doesn’t there is NO DOUBT he has a future in the league.
