2012 Spartan Nation Football Profile: #98 DT Anthony Rashad White

Expectation:Â All Big Ten DT
Height:  6’2â€
Weight:Â 318#
2012 Eligibility: Senior
EXP:Â 2 Letters
Status:Â Starting DT
Strengths: White is a space eater. White is a massive human being with a great motor for a human being of his size. He is a great football player when healthy. He demands the double team and his body takes a beating in the trenches.
Let’s look at the Outback Bowl for a great example of his talent. In the 1st quarter the Dogs had a 1st and ten at their own 11 with 3:13 on the clock. UGA was in a shotgun formation with a running back offset to the QB’s right.  White bull rushes over the center (a future NFL player) grabs the QB for a three yard loss. When healthy he can’t be
contained. He will be double teamed every play this year making it easier for his teammates along the line.
Weakness: Against Michigan the Wolverines were facing a 2nd and ten at their own 32 with 9:05 on the clock. Yet again Shoelaces threw an incomplete pass and White grabbed him when the pass was clearly away. He could have stopped, but instead he threw him to the ground for a personal foul.
When you are a big man and fighting double teams and congestion that come in the middle it is easy to get frustrated, but he can’t. He is the leader now. He has to show restraint.
Final Analysis: At first you would think White is a standoff guy. Your first impression would be wrong. He is content being himself and comes with no ego. He is a fantastic person and a super football player. If he can stay healthy he has all the tools to be better than Jerel Worthy. Based on his off season I will be shocked if he isn’t drafted after the
season. He has stepped up and had a superb off season.
During the spring he took the young, but talented DL under his wing and was teaching and inspiring. He is going to have a MONSTER season. If he comes into camp in shape, look out!
Next up:Â #51 OT Fou Fonoti
