Answering your Michigan State Football Questions and Emails…
Hondo, I was wondering what kind of an impact you think Juwan Caesar can have at TE/WR next year? Kathy in Lakeland, FL
I do not expect Juwan will be on the team in 2013. It is my expectation that he will be transferring out.
Hondo, you mentioned last week you knew of two wide receivers who were considering leaving/transferring from MSU. Can you say who? Harold
One is still talking it over with his family this week so I won’t name him. The one that I do anticipate leaving is Kyle Kerrick. No word yet on where he would be going.
Hondo, I was shocked that you had no MSU football questions last week about the QB. I will ask one. You have mentioned that back in the day, in high school, that Andrew Maxwell showed some impressive athleticism. We have not seen much of that at MSU. Do you think he lost it or why do you think he hasn’t used it? Sam
I was shocked as well last week Sam. We did see much more athleticism in high school. I think that Andrew has had it so ingrained in him to be risk averse that it has hurt him. I know for a fact that he has been told to take some risks down the field passing on third down and he is hesitant. That is why every rep he could take live helped him and it is my opinion that not going live in the spring game was a mistake. Andrew is a fantastic person and I think he has all the tools to be a great QB.
Hondo, I love your question and answer articles. Last week you had some super information on the coaches wanting DeAnthony Arnett to red shirt and they told that to Dantonio. You also said the decision not to do it (Redshirt Arnett) was also Dantonio’s. I saw another media member disagree with your take. Have anything to say? Wally
They need better sources at MSU.
Hondo, I was at a Tigers game with a coworker. He told me that the move of Riley Bullough to RB was only to motivate Nick Hill. He said that he had heard Hill dominated. What say you? Nicholas

Hondo, the way you talked about MSU football moving into the Big Ten east makes it sound dire for MSU if they don’t cut sports and put more money into football. Did I misunderstand? If not, what do you think? Kathryn
Yes, I did say that and I didn’t mince words. MSU cannot remain competitive in football if they do not put more money into the program. Now they will be in the east with three teams that average over 100,000 fans for home games and who understand that football is king. MSU has already taken a hit with donations after a 7-6 season that saw a bowl win. I have exhaustively already reported how the administration takes money from athletics and keeps multiple revenue streams from it. With all but three sports hemorrhaging money, MSU must look in the mirror and fast. It is time to cut multiple sports and move all in with football. Money flows when football does well. It cuts off when it doesn’t. This is simple economics and I know many that agree with me.
Hondo, I know that Marcus Rush is a great player, I was just wondering about Joel Heath? Mark
Great question about a great kid. I love Joel. I love his game and his maturation. I fully expect him to have a great season and continue to grow. He will be a special player.
Hondo, last season you reported that Mark Dantonio was going to remain at MSU for a significant amount of time. I believe you said he told you, “More than five years.†Is that correct? My second point is that having had a heart attack, if something happened, who would you want to take his place prior to that? Richard Leger
I certainly want Mark here for a long time and yes he did tell me that. If something should happen, Pat Narduzzi is the perfect fit. I have said many times I DO NOT support Big time programs hiring head coaches with no head coach experience UNLESS they are from within. He is. Let’s all pray for Mark’s health and that he is here a long time.
Hondo, I recently heard you being interviewed and when they asked about special teams you talked about Taybor Pepper. I drove into a bad area and missed what you said. The reason I asked is I have never heard anyone talk about a long snapper and wanted to hear what it was about his game you liked so much? Montgomery from Indiana
Great question. Taybor snaps the ball so fast. It is faster than some in the NFL. He is an artist with how fast he gets the ball into the hands of the holder or the punter.
