Hondo, with Steve Spurrier retiring at South Carolina I am hearing the Coach D will be there number one choice as an alumni. You have said many times that you think there is only one school you think he would listen to. Is it this one or Ohio State? Kelcie in Dewitt

Mark Dantonio would not take the South Carolina or the Ohio State job. Neither of those schools are the one that I think he would listen to. I will say that if South Carolina approached him he would offer to help them find a coach, but again he will not be the next Gamecocks coach.

Am I wrong or does this Team Lack intensity on Defense? It seems this team does not play with an edge, they do not fly to the ball to make tackles and they do not hit with the same amount of ferocity we are used to seeing. Would you agree? I think this team has been privileged to have multiple people who led every year prior to this one since Dantonio arrived. Not just Pat Narduzzi, but several leaders. This group is very young and frankly missing multiple leaders. Not lacking want to and drive, but they are missing multiple leaders.

Hondo, how can Geiger go from the best kicker in his recruiting class to the best in the Big Ten as a freshman to now totally stinking? He hasn’t hit one good ball this year and now has to play bumper pool to the one he made. Steve Thomas

Well, I can tell you he has struggled, and has hit some bad balls. That established, he has had many balls he hit well, that the kick didn’t go. He has had a good season as far as striking the ball, the issue has been elevation and accuracy.

Hondo, I am a Spartan living in New Jersey who got his masters from Rutgers. After coming here for a visit now for football and basketball, what are your thoughts? Chris Day

You’re right. You would think there would be a team that had won a ton of close games and won a lot. Darn. Oh wait, there was one. The 2002 National Champion OSU Buckeyes with a DC named Mark Dantonio and oh by the way didn’t have nearly the injuries MSU has had.

Hondo, Jim Harbaugh arrived in Ann Arbor doing what Dantonio did when he arrived in 2007. Great defense, solid special teams and run the ball. Dantonio has got the big ego and now UM has taken back from MSU its identity. Wish we could skip this weekend. Going to be sad when we realize what the nation knew and why UM got all the attention this off season. Rhonda K.

I would suggest you burn your green and white BEFORE the game, buy some Michigan clothes and declare to the nation your love for UM. All before the game and if MSU wins, I sure hope you don’t ever root for MSU again and remain a person true to her convictions.
