Let the Spartan Football season begin!

Enough is enough. No more talking. No more press conferences to talk about how hard you’ve been practicing. It’s time to hit somebody else now, it’s time

Enough is enough. No more talking. No more press conferences to talk about how hard you’ve been practicing. It’s time to hit somebody else now, it’s time to play.

MSU kicks off the football season this Saturday at home at high noon against Automatic Victory, er, I mean UAB and all I can say is “It’s about time.” For nine months you’ve heard us telling you how good of a coach Mark Dantonio is; how he was the right guy for the job, and that’s true. You’ve heard us tell you that the new pro offense should be an upgrade from the spread offense, which is true. You’ve heard the players tell you how much they’ve bought into the program, and they have. But that’s all talk. Starting Saturday September 1, 2007 actions will speak louder then words. Because win or lose this season, succeed or fail, the Michigan State football program is on the right track. They WILL play hard for four quarters, they WILL play aggressive defense, and they’ll do it (as former Pistons head coach Larry brown would say) “The right way”: You’ll be proud of the Spartans both on and off the field.

So this Saturday as 75,000 plus fans pack the High Cathedral of the Spartan Nation they will all be thinking one thing: Enough of the small talk, let’s see what you can do. Let’s see if Jehuu Caulcrick and Javon Ringer can both top 1,000 yards. Let’s see if this Brian Hoyer guy can manage a game. Let’s see if a switch to a 4-3 defense strengthens the secondary. Let’s see if the linebackers can stay healthy and handle the Big 10 schedule. Just let us SEE something. Let us finally see this football renaissance.

Are you ready for some football?
