Mark Dantonio & Michigan State Football Add a Big Hitter in Commitment #14 for the 2013 Class: Delton Williams!

Mark Dantonio continues to torch his Big Ten foes on the recruiting trail, reeling in his 14th verbal commitment for the class of 2013. Erie, Pennsylvania product Delton Williams of Cathedral Prep is the latest prospect to choose the Green and White.Â

 

Williams chose Michigan State over offers from Penn State, West Virginia, Nebraska, Pitt, Illinois and others. He joined Hondo on Spartan Nation Radio to talk about his commitment.

 

“I knew the first time I stepped on campus [I would be a Spartan], explained Williams. “It was a great time. I was down for the Wisconsin game last year and there was a jump ball and the crowd was going crazy. I was there and I felt like I was already home.”

 

Williams becomes the third player from Pennsylvania to commit to Michigan State, a two-tale sign. The first, the Spartans profile on the scale is increasing and second, that Bill O’Brien and Penn State are just seeing the beginning of how the NCAA sanctions will decimate the Nittany Lions.

 

Williams is also the 2nd player from Cathedral Prep to commit to Mark Dantonio’s program. He joins his teammate and quarterback Damion Terry who chose the Spartans back in April.

 

“[Damion] was pushing me and pushing me to do this,” explained Williams. “Even like four or five weeks ago when I knew I was already going to [commit], but I told my Athletic Director and Coach, they said just to wait it out and then Ohio State and West Virginia started sending me a lot of stuff but it was a good process.”

 

Terry also fulfilled his obligation to Michigan State before even signing his letter of intent, by being the lead recruiter for Williams.

 

“It’s great, words can’t even describe,” said Terry. “[Williams] has been my main man on the football field since freshman year and we complement each other really well. It means a lot knowing he will be with me the next four years at Michigan State.”

 

Williams is expected to fit well on the defensive side of the ball. Many have summed him up in one word, freak.

 

“It just feels good to be that person,” said Williams.Â

 

Terry sees Williams thriving on defense as well.

 

“He isn’t scared to go up against anyone, no matter how good they are,” explained Terry. “He is just a pure athlete so it is great to have him.

 

Williams is excited for what the future holds with Terry by his side in Green and White.

 

“We are the first two guys from [Cathedral] Prep to be on the same team and go to the same college,” said Williams. “It just feels really good to be with him and we really are brothers and ready to go the next level, Michigan State.”
