Mark Dantonio and the #5 Michigan State Spartans landed their 11th commitment for the 2019 class last night in MI OT Devontae Dobbs. One of the nation’s elite players and one of the most sought-after offensive tackles, for Dobbs it was an easy choice.
Spartan Nation has reported for over a year that we expected Dobbs to make his choice to be a Spartan and he did so. Dobbs said, “I am blessed and extremely excited to announce that I will be continuing my academic and football career at Michigan State University.”
But as Spartan Nation has written before, Dobbs loved that of all the schools around the nation what wanted him, it was Mark Dantonio and Michigan State that didn’t push him.
“He (Dantonio) was just asking me how Michigan State was holding in my recruiting,” he said. “He said I was going to have all of the pieces to the puzzle that I’m looking for in a school.”
Dobbs already has a pair of teammates headed for Michigan State as Belleville 2018 cornerback Davion Williams has already signed his National Letter of Intent with the Spartans, while 2019 ATH Julian Barnett committed to Michigan State last month.
Dobbs also had the chance to spend time with Michigan State 2019 offensive line commit Spencer Brown, out of Walled Lake Western, and said that he would be interested in playing alongside Brown at the next level.
“I think it would be a really good experience, we already have a good relationship,” he said. “Just imagine four or five years with him.”
