BREAKING: Michigan State regains commitment from 4-star wide receiver

BOOM! A huge win (again) for the Spartans!

Michigan State has regained a commitment from one of its top targets in the 2024 recruiting cycle.

On Friday, four-star River Rouge (Mich.) wide receiver Nick Marsh announced he was rejoining MSU's class following his decommitment back on March 7. The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder is considered the No. 100 overall prospect and No. 16 wide receiver in the 2024 class, according to 247Sports' composite rankings.

Should his commitment hold through to signing day, which is expected, he would the highest-rated offensive prospect that Michigan State has signed since five-star Belleville (Mich.) offensive tackle Devontae Dobbs (No. 51) in 2019.

Michigan State was Marsh's first love — he originally committed to the Spartans way back in July 2022 as the first member of MSU's 2024 class.

However, after the Spartans endured a disappointing 5-7 season in 2022, and with other programs showing increased interest, Marsh decided to take a step back and re-open his recruitment to be sure he was making the right decision.

Michigan State wide receivers coach Courtney Hawkins stayed in touch with Marsh over the following three months, keeping the Spartans near the top of the race for the No. 3 high school prospect from the state of Michigan.

This past June, Marsh took official visits to Pittsburgh, Penn State, Kansas and finally Michigan State. The Nittany Lions appeared to have a commanding lead for Marsh following his OV to State College on June 9, but that changed when Marsh brought his mother, aunt, grandmother and two sisters to East Lansing over the weekend on June 23.

The appeal of being able to play close to home, with his family regularly in attendance at his games, was a major factor in allowing Michigan State to bring Marsh back into the fold. Give credit to Hawkins and Tucker. It's difficult to regain verbal pledges from prospects following a decommitment, but they pulled it off here with arguably MSU's most important target of the class.

With the addition of Marsh, Michigan State continues its recent hot streak on the recruiting trail. Since the start of June, the Spartans have landed nine verbal commitments including four-star running back Anthony Carrie, three-star quarterback Henry Hasselbeck, three-star defensive backs Reggie Powers, Justin DensonSyair Torrence and Camren Campbell, and three-star offensive linemen Mercer and Charlton Luniewski

Michigan State had previously earned pledges from three-star cornerback Jaylen Thompson three-star offensive linemen Andrew Dennis and Logan Barnett, bringing its 2024 class up to 11 commitments.
