Mr. Perfect

Who would take over the place kicking duties was up in the air coming into this season. It was a main area of concern, but like our fathers always said, “The things we often fear aren’t worth it.” Dad was right.

Dan Conroy has proven perfect. Through the first six games of the 2010 season, he has made all of his field goals and point after attempts. His perfection has been a critical component in the Spartans starting the campaign with six straight wins.

There is one key component often overlooked. The kicker is very important in the Mark Dantonio system. Had Conroy not stepped up early then the Spartans calling of the now famous “Little Giants” play never would have happened.

Because the Irish were sold that Conroy could make the field goal based on his early season success, they bought the fake. That is all on Conroy.

Dan is a superb young man and obviously a very good kicker. No one is perfect. He can’t stay that way forever, but this we know and have learned. Dan Conroy is a key part of the Spartans’ success. For MSU to take this from a great season to a magical season Conroy will be a giant part.

We at Spartan Nation believe that good people can and do finish first and Conroy is a great example of that.Â
