Seven Spartan Football Players That Have to Make a Move: NOW!

Today we take a look at players on the Michigan State football roster that need to step up now. As their careers enter the final two years (or less), they are young men who have yet to achieve what they are capable of. Being on this list is not calling them out as bad character men or not good teammates. Being on this list is a statement of fact that they are being pushed from younger players and they don’t have a lot of time left. It also is a statement that they have the talent to do more.

In today’s day where everyone looks for cheap shots, there will be some that say being on this list is a slam on each of these men. Those people would be highly ignorant. This list says that they can do it. They all have the ability and now is the time to make sure they don’t wake up one day as old men with regret.

1. S Mylan Hicks: He came to MSU with so much promise and potential. Blessed with great ball skills, Hicks has been unable to make the jump into the playing rotation on a consistent basis. He has the talent, now with the timer running he needs to make a move.

2. RB Nick Hill: Hill was brought in to be a punt returner and kick returner. At the end of last year he was neither. Hillhas the talent to do really well and his coaches are rooting for him. Having had the chances in the past, he won’t get many opportunities. He has to seize the moment now.

3. RB Jeremy Langford: Of all the young men on this list none is more perplexing than Langford. If you were to look up the definition of a football player’s body in the dictionary it would say, “See Jeremy Langford.” He has every tool that only God can give. His inability to produce has left many inside Spartan football scratching their heads. He can do it, we will see right now if he believes that.

4. FB Niko Palazeti: The first AND ONLY true FB rewarded a scholarship by Mark Dantonio on national signing day; there were BIG plans for Niko. Then OC Don Treadwell went to bat for him in a big way. He benefited from having some great FBs ahead of him when he arrived, but last year was his time. He got injured. He has great skills, but he has to stay healthy. So far he is having a great camp, but staying healthy is the key. He produces when on the field.

5. DE Denzel Drone: Drone has an amazing skill set. He can play at this level and should. Drone has to go all out on every play. He has plenty of guys that can play, so each play has to be an exercise in violent pursuit of the man wearing a different jersey and holding the ball. MSU has the depth to give those guys a break. Narduzzi has been very impressed so far with his final camp.

6. OT Michael Dennis: This young man is a monster of a human being and as big as he is, just as big of a great person. If Dennis had a mean streak he would be on his way to the NFL. He works hard, but with wide open opportunities and some potential to slide to TE, this is his time. Right now. His career is now on the backside with only two years left. He can do it, but there are a lot of bodies around him. Being that fourth year guy, a redshirt junior, he has to make a move.

7. TE Derek Hoebing: Again, this young man is blessed with size and you can’t teach size. When he pledged to Michigan State they were elated to get a high character and big bodied football player. This is his final season and with a TE spot wide open, the door is waiting for Derek to walk through. He can do it. The question is, will he? It is hard when you are a 5th year senior to make a move, because at this point coaches are ALWAYS thinking about the future. Don’t bet against him, but now he has to do it.
