When MSU unveiled a chromed helmet for the Michigan game, it didn’t take long for opinion. Several days before the game news of the helmet starter to spread and by game time came opinions were everywhere.

I said at the time that I didn’t care for them, but didn’t care. I added that if the Spartans played better, or recruits fell in love that was what mattered to me. As traditionalist they did nothing for me, but there are no sacred cows in football, other than winning.

I asked the Spartan Nation to email me their thoughts and you did. 513 of you did. Here is how the results ended up and some of them.

Here are some of the emails:

David Neal “Look Terrible”

Mark “Dumb question Hondo”

Jim Christophersen "Clothes don't make a man"

Bob Golisek "There was nothing wrong with the old helmet look. They should pay more attention to developing a "NEW" offense than what a "NEW" helmet looks like.........................."

Kent Mauly “Only an old fart would hate those helmets”

Terri Pugliano “not crazy about them. not enough color - too silver.”

Bob Smith “THEY SUCK”

Tim “Love them.”

Kerri Carter “They look almost as good as the guys wearing them.”

Paul Pranter “Only a blind Wolverine would hate on those.”

Fran Reece “Loved them!!! Hope they stay with them!!!”

Henry “Who cares about a new helmet when you have the same OC! A great drive coming out of the locker room and then he hid the playbook under the old helmets!”

Denny Hull “The logo looks silver in the picture, I prefer white. Hope they don’t show scratches like the old ones.”

Ed Mullin "Hollis has sold his soul to Nike. We are Oregon East now."
