Michigan State Looking Good for 3-Star LB Charles White
The Michigan State Spartans are the favorite to land Orchard Lake St. Mary's linebacker Charles White, who makes his decision on April 27.
Michigan State football coach Jonathan Smith has been hitting the recruiting trail hard in his first offseason at the helm.
Smith has been especially persistent in finding linebackers for his defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Joe Rossi to work with.
2025 linebacker Charles White is one of the names most tied to Michigan State this recruiting season. The Orchard Lake St. Mary's product is 6-foot-3 and 190 pounds. As a junior, White had 76 tackles (42 solo and eight for a loss) and two forced fumbles, per 247Sports. White is a good athlete who has also played safety.
247Sports has White rated as a 3-star prospect with an 87 score. White is ranked as the No. 10 player in Michigan. He is the No. 66 linebacker in the country, and No. 594 player nationally.
Michigan State officially offered White in December. Since then, White has unofficially visited East Lansing -- he attended a spring practice on April 4. White took to X, formerly known as Twitter, the day before.
Recently, White and Michigan State have been linked even more.
On Friday, White announced he would make his commitment announcement on April 27, per Allan Trieu of 247Sports. White's top-four consists of Michigan State, Purdue, Boston College and Kansas. Michigan State is considered the Crystal Ball favorite.
White has received offers from other Big Ten schools like Nebraska, Penn State, Indiana and Rutgers.
Before White makes his announcement, he will be visiting East Lansing again for the "Spring Showcase" on April 20. In attendance with White will be other Michigan State targets, such as White's teammate Antonio Johnson, an offensive lineman.
Johnson is a 3-star recruit who is "warm" on Michigan State, along with Big Ten rivals Illinois and Penn State, per 247Sports. The 6-foot-4, 285-pound lineman could be a good addition to the Spartans' offense.
247Sports' Lead Crystal Ball expert Corey Robinson has White as 100% in favor of committing to Michigan State. Trieu is also confident that White will choose the Spartans.
White told 247Sports' Justin Thind that he liked Michigan State's staff.
"They checked every box," White said.
White will officially visit East Lansing on June 7 if he commits.
The Michigan State Spartan Football Spring Green and White Game (Spring Showcase) will be held at the High Cathedral of the Spartan Nation, Spartan Stadium, on April 20, 2024, at 2 p.m.
