• The men's basketball team is in KenPom.com's top 25 in defensive efficiency (90.2 – 3rd), effective field goal percentage defense (41.5 – 6th) and two-point field goal percentage defense (43.5 – 23rd).

• Tulane (6-1) is the AAC leaders in points (88.4), field-goal percentage (53.1), steals (10.6) and turnover margin (+5.1). The Green Wave have all five starters averaging in double figures fueled by Kevin Cross (19.5 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists), who has had three straight 20-plus point games. Collin Holloway (14.3 points) is the reigning AAC Player of the Week after a 26-point showing at Fordham.

• Mississippi State has won seven of the last eight meetings with Tulane dating back to 1982-83. Overall, the Bulldogs hold a 56-39 series advantage. MSU won the most recent game, 80-66 victory, at the 2019 Myrtle Beach Invitational
