• Before losing to Mississippi State 2-1, Brown had only given up two or more goals only twice this season, a 2-1 loss in double overtime to Columbia in the Ivy League Tournament, and a 4-3 shootout it won early in the season against Central Connecticut State. 

• In the final regular season United Soccer Coaches Poll, Brown was No. 14, while Mississippi State was No. 18. The Bulldogs' next opponent, host Stanford, was No. 3. 

• Mississippi State has never defeated Washington State in men's basketball, going 0-2. The Cougars last met the Bulldogs at the 2010 Diamondhead Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Cougars, led by Klay Thompson, beat MSU by double-digits in the opening round, before knocking off No. 15 Baylor and advancing to the title game. Thompson finished the game against the Bulldogs with 28 points, as Wazzu outscored MSU 44-17 in the second half for the win.
