• Before losing to Georgia Tech, the men's basketball team had won its first six games by an average of 16.7 points.
• State was out-rebounded for the first time this season, 45-43. However, the Bulldogs scored 13 of the game’s 18 points on second-chance opportunities.
• Sunday's opponent, Southern, is 1-6, but has played TCU (Big 12), Arizona (Pac-12), Illinois (Big Ten) and Marquette (Big East). Tai'Reon Joseph is the team's top scorer (17.9 points). while Jordan Johnson is coming off a 21-point effort at Marquette.

Reigning Southern Conference Freshman of the Year Raven Thompson adds 14.8 points and a team-high 7.4 rebounds per game.
