Dez Bryant has a message for his former team, the Dallas Cowboys. Bryant, an ex-Dallas receiver, wants the Cowboys to open up the checkbook for quarterback and former Mississippi State Bulldog great Dak Prescott.

Bryant offered up his thoughts on Saturday night in the wake of Dallas inking former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton to a one-year deal. Meanwhile Prescott has been given the franchise tag by the Cowboys while the two parties seek to work out the details of a long-term arrangement.

According to Bryant, priority No. 1 for Dallas should have been Dak, not Dalton.

“Nothing against Andy (D)alton because I think he’s a great player…but the (C)cowboys are extremely out of line,” Bryant tweeted. “Pay Dak.”

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Dalton’s deal with Dallas is worth up to $7 million, including $3 million guaranteed. Meanwhile Prescott’s franchise tag for the upcoming season will pay him north of $31 million. Of course, Prescott and the Cowboys could come to terms on a multiyear deal.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has told reporters in recent weeks that Dallas doesn’t have a time frame to get a deal done with Prescott. It bears noting though that the NFL has a July 15 deadline for extending players who have been franchise tagged.

If Bryant gets his way, Prescott will soon have his deal. Such an agreement would allow Prescott to stick around for the long haul after what has been a successful career with the Cowboys up to this point. Prescott will enter the 2020 season as a two-time Pro Bowler. He’s also led Dallas to the playoffs twice in the last four years.

All of this came after Dallas picked Prescott in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft following Prescott’s legendary collegiate career at Mississippi State.
