3-Star DL Down Two Five Schools, Includes Three SEC Teams

One of the top prospects from South Carolina is down to top five schools, including three SEC teams.

Three-star defensive line prospect Marcus Downs is down to five schools, as he announced earlier this week.

The 6-foot-5, 260 pound prospect from Greer, South Carolina is one of the top prospects in the state. According to the 247 Sports Composite, Downs currently ranks as the No. 54 defensive lineman in the country for the class of 2024, as well as the No. 8 player out of South Carolina.

Downs has generated a lot of buzz from numerous Power 5 programs around the country before trimming his list of top schools to five, including three from the SEC.

Downs named Georgia, Auburn, and Tennessee from the SEC as part of his top five. Two ACC schools, Georgia Tech and North Carolina, were also named to the mix for his recruitment.

Recently, Downs officially visited North Carolina last week, and has previously been on unofficial visits to Auburn and Georgia Tech. Downs was also present for Tennessee's junior day in Knoxville.

It will be interesting to see where his recruitment goes from here as teams attempt to land one of the top prospects from South Carolina.
