What Head Coach Zach Arnett Said About Mississippi State's Performance In 31-24 Win Over Arizona

In this story:
After the 31-24 overtime win over Arizona on Saturday, the Mississippi State Bulldogs have plenty to reflect on both from a positive and a negative perspective as they prepare to move into Week 3.
Head coach Zach Arnett shared his thoughts after the game about the performance compared to what he expected before the game was played.
“I told the players I could not be more proud of the way they came out and it's attacking the opening kick," he said.
Just before kickoff, Arizona won the coin toss and gave the ball to the Bulldogs to start off with. An excellent rush by running back Jo'Quavious Marks gave the team a strong start to the game.
However, the momentum slowed down as the game continued. With lots of incomplete passes and a couple of sacks to quarterback Will Rogers, there was a difficulty in having a clean offense.
“It is fairly easy as a football team to throw in the towel and just accept defeat and they did not do that. And that's credit to the players in that locker room marathon coach Fisher and his staff." said Arnett "They did a tremendous job of fighting off the whole game. We knew it was gonna be a 60 minute football game. It actually had to be more than that and it was fitting it came down with a scramble but now I mean credit to them.”
Arnett felt it necessary to credit the other team. A lot of the struggle that came to the Bulldogs offense did come from the challenge presented by Arizona's defense. It is considerate of Arnett to mention the opposing team's coaching when they had good strategy in fighting the MSU offensive line.
“I just I could not be more proud of our players in every in every phase of the game. They made the made the place necessary to win the game.” Arnett continued.
His dedication to the team and ambition to finish the game strong no matter the circumstance should be taken into account when looking at the win. Arnett believes in his players even if they aren't playing their best, and that trust and pride is what fueled the Bulldogs during the unexpected overtime.
“We got we got to have some really resilient football players. I could not be prouder of the way they continue to fight all the way till the end. And that's what made a difference in the game. Players making plays."
MSU will look to keep things rolling as it faces LSU up next on the schedule.
