Will Dak sign a long-term deal with Dallas soon?

Ever since Dak Prescott became almost inarguably the most memorable Mississippi State football player in history a few years ago, Bulldog fans have seemingly grown attached to the quarterback. With Prescott starring with the Dallas Cowboys the last four years, Dallas jerseys adorned with Prescott’s No. 4 can be seen all around Starkville and MSU’s Davis Wade Stadium in the fall. But will Prescott remain with the Cowboys for the long haul? That seems to be the burning question right now.

Currently, Prescott has been franchise tagged by Dallas. That would mean the Cowboys would pay Prescott north of $31 million for the upcoming season. However Prescott could soon agree to a long-term deal.

Here’s what Mike Fisher of CowboyMaven had to say regarding Dak’s current contract situation:

"The offer on the table right now guys is $35 million APY. $106 million-plus in terms of full guarantees. The debate being Dak Prescott wants the shorter-term deal of four years and the Cowboys would like him to be extended out over the course of five years."
"July 15 is the date (to watch for), by which time you have to have either forged a new deal, or you play on the existing franchise tag, which is $31.409 million. This is one phone call away. You’ve got the numbers already right. It’s one side wanting to do four years because the TV contract expires after the 2022 season and Dak wants that quicker bite of the apple. The other side wants five years."

So for now, it’s a waiting game to see when, or if, Prescott eventually gets the deal he wants with Dallas.
