Signing Day: Missouri Men's Basketball Signs Five Players to 2024 Class

The five standouts in their class signed their letters of intent to play for Missouri, making the commitments official.

The Missouri basketball program added five new players to the program Wednesday, finalizing commitments that currently makes up the consensus No. 2 recruiting class in the nation. 

It's been an incredible recruitment season for head coach Dennis Gates and his coaching staff, setting the program up for a high-potential 2024 roster. 

Overall, Missouri signed a top-10 class for the second time in program history, surpassing the No. 4-ranked Class of 2017 as the Tigers’ highest-ranked unit per recruiting services. All five prospects rank in the top 100 nationally as Mizzou and Duke are the only two schools with more than three players featured prominently in the top 100.

The 7-foot, 300 lbs center Peyton Marshall (Marietta, Ga.) became the first official signing of the day for the Tigers.

As a top-10 center in the nation, Marshall led the Kell Longhorns to its first state title in school history during his junior season. Now playing for the Cold Hearts in the Overtime Elite League, he is averaging 8.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in 15.2 minutes per game.

Statement from Dennis Gates: "Peyton is a dominant interior presence who is a great finisher and has tremendous touch around the rim. He is also a physical player and does a good job of drawing contact and capitalizing from the free-throw line. Perhaps most impressively, however, Peyton is the best passer in the 2024 class, regardless of position and school. His court vision and his ability to quarterback the team for his size is unmatched."

Coming out of Edmund, Okla., T.O. Barrett is expected to utilize his 6-foot-5 frame and athleticism at the point guard position.

Coming off a season where he led Edmond North High School to its second straight Oklahoma State title, Barrett is averaging 9.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists for MOKAN Elite as part of the Nike EYBL circuit this season. He helped the team advance to the Peach Jam tournament, but fell short in the quarterfinals.

He has great size for his position plus a tremendous basketball IQ with elite decision-making skills and versatility."

Trent Burns

The tallest signee of the five, Trent Burns (Houston, Texas), stands at 7-foot-3 at the center position.

Burns was another player involved in the Nike EYBL circuit, helping the Houston Hoops earn a Peach Jam Tournament bid. The big man average 6.9 points and 4.3 rebounds per game, while also ranking top 15 in blocks with 1.4 per game.

"He fits our system and our five-out offense that we want to run perfectly. Trent has also shown a lot of potential this summer and is somebody we feel like can be a sleeper of our class. Marcus Allen

Coming out of Miami, Fla., Marcus Allen is a top-50 recruit in his class.

The 6-foot-7 forward led AZ Compass Prep to the GEICO National Championship Game in 2023, following an 18.2 point per game season as a sophomore while attending Norland High School. Allen is a skilled offensive player on the wing, and has developed into a strong defensive player as well.

"He has a unique build and size for his position – with measurables of a 6-11 wingspan and a hand size of 10.5" – that makes him a strong college and professional prospect. His defensive IQ is elite and will be an anchor for us on that end of the court. Annor Boateng

Missouri capped off its recruiting day with Annor Boateng (Little Rock, Ark.), the highest ranked player for the program since Michael Porter Jr. in 2017.

Ranking as high as No. 21 nationally, Boateng was named the Gatorade Arkansas Basketball Player of the Year, leading Little Rock Central to the Class 6A State Quarterfinals with averages of 15.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.9 steals and 1.4 blocks per game.

The 6-foot-5 guard has already surpassed 1,000 points for his career entering his senior year, and was a first-team all-state selection in 2023.
