Missouri Quarterback Named Scholar Athlete of the Year

Brady Cook delivered both on the field and in the classroom this season for Missouri.

Missouri quarterback Brady Cook was one of the top quarterbacks in the Southeastern Conference this season, passing for 3,183 yards, third in the conference, and 20 touchdowns, fifth in the league, while also rushing for 253 yards and eight touchdowns.

Cook led Missouri to a 10-2 record this season, their best since 2014 when they made the SEC championship game. Cook was well prepared on the field for Missouri, but he also was well prepared in the classroom as he was named the SEC Football Scholar Athlete of the Year in a vote held by coaches around the league.

The fourth-year signal caller earned his bachelor's degree in December 2022 and is enrolled in a master's program at the university. Cook is also a three-time member of the SEC academic honor roll during his time with the Tigers.

Cook is the second Missouri Tigers' student-athlete in three years to win the award, with running back Tyler Badie winning it in 2021.

The Tigers' season isn't over yet, with Missouri likely heading to a New Year's Six bowl game as the probable third-best team in the SEC. Missouri will learn its bowl destination on Sunday, December Third.

It is unclear whether Cook will choose to enter the NFL draft or not. As a redshirt junior, he'll still have at least a year of college eligibility remaining if he chooses to return but could decide to test the waters of the NFL draft to determine if he should come back for another year in Columbia.
