Missouri's Eli Drinkwitz Proposes Multiple Solutions to Combat Sign-Stealing

In this story:
The Michigan football team's sign-stealing investigation has raised a lot of questions, and Missouri Tigers head coach Eli Drinkwitz has some answers on how to prevent it from working.
"Let's say I've hypothetically played against a team that stole signals at an elite level before, I'd have to sugar huddle," Drinkwitz said on GoJo and Golic on Friday. "(Ohio State/Michigan's rival head coach) Ryan Day has done an excellent job of trying to protect his stuff by quick huddling, sugar huddling and getting out of formations. That's really what you have to do."
The usage of signs is very common on the sidelines during college football games, but watching film of opposing teams holding them up to determine the meaning of them is what allegedly got Michigan and head coach Jim Harbaugh in this mess.
While he doesn't necessarily sympathize with what Michigan may have done, Drinkwitz believes none of this would've happened if teams were given communication devices for quarterbacks like the NFL does.
"I think the playoffs were worth $1B, but we can't afford wireless headsets. It's mindblowing to me." - Eli Drinkwitz

"You think most coaches would like to go with receivers in helmets of the QBs to signal caller?" @golic
"Yeah, I think everybody but Michigan would want to" 😂 pic.twitter.com/MK09PUAVzC
"The saddest thing about this is, in head coaches meetings since 2019, we've asked for communication like the NFL. For whatever reason, it's always been pushed back and they say 'we can't do it or we can't afford it,' and we've let the game get away."
Drinkwitz furthered his case by stating that devices are even used at the lower level.
"You go to high school football games and they have technology all along the sidelines with film and tablets like the NFL, but college football doesn't. I think the College Football Playoff was worth $1 billion, but we can't afford wireless headsets? It's mind-blowing to me."
