Mizzou Coach Kevin Peoples Named Semifinalist for Broyles Award

Missouri Tigers defensive coach Kevin Peoples was named one of 15 semifinalists for the 2023 Broyles Award, which goes to the assistant coach of the year in college football, but in one way he already won.
When the list was revealed on Monday morning, Peoples was the only one who wasn't a coordinator. He's the Tigers assistant coach for the defensive line, working with the edge position.
Last season he mentored defensive ends Isaiah McGuire and DJ Coleman, who are both currently in the NFL. this year's unit was rebuilt around Darius Robinson and Johnny Walker Jr. Along with transfers Nyles Gaddy and Joe Moore III. The edge group has contributed 15.5 sacks and 23 tackles for a loss.
Peoples, a 29-year coaching veteran, joined the Mizzou staff in January 2022. He arrived in Columbia after two seasons at Indiana and four seasons at Tulane. Previous stops included Georgia Southern (2014-15), UAB (2013), Arkansas (2010-12), Arkansas State (2002-09), Northwestern State (2001, 1996), with the Las Vegas Outlaws (2000), Northern Arizona (1999), Central Missouri (1997-98) and Blinn College (1995).
Missouri has never had a Broyles Award winner. It's only national coach of the year honors have been Don Faurot the 1964 Amos Alonzo Stagg Award for Contributions to Football, and Warren Powers the 1978 Walter Camp Coach of the Year Award.

Luther Burden III Named one of 10 Semifinalists who can Snare Biletnikoff Award
