Report: Nebraska Women's Basketball Petra Bozan to Enter Transfer Portal

Amy Williams' 2026-27 roster took another hit on Thursday as the program's second player of the offseason is reportedly in search of a new home.
Petra Bozan, a 6-3 forward and center hybrid for Nebraska, is set to enter the transfer portal, as first reported by On3. The sophomore spent two seasons in Lincoln, averaging 6.6 points per game this season while playing in all 32 games for the Huskers. Bozan was a starter for the Huskers' final two games of the season in the NCAA Tournament's First Four matchup against Richmond and the opening round against Baylor.
Bozan becomes the second player headed for the transfer portal from Nebraska women's hoops, as Jessica Petrie was reported to be doing so earlier in the offseason. Bozan could become the fifth Husker to leave the program following the conclusion of the season, along with Petrie and graduates Hailey Weaver, Callin Hake, and Eliza Maupin.

Bozan was the final addition to the Huskers' 2024-25 roster, arriving in Lincoln a day prior to the start of fall classes in August 2025. The Croatia native led her country in points and rebounds over seven tournament games at the 2024 FIBA U18 Women's Eurobasket competitions in Portugal prior to arriving in Lincoln, and had previously competed in Croatia's Premier League, averaging 15.6 points, 12.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1..7 steals, and 1.7 blocked shots over 22 games in the 2023-24 season. She competed for Croatia in three straight FIBA European Championships, beginning in 2022 in the U16 championships, then participating in the 2023 and 2024 U18 leagues.
Bozan finished her first season with the Huskers, averaging 5.3 points per game along with 2.8 rebounds per contest, shooting 51% from the field while adding 17 blocks on the season. The forward would follow up her freshman season with her first of 19 career starts for Nebraska, playing in 32 games with 6.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per contest.
Bozan's best moment of the season came against Penn State on the road on Dec. 6, as the Huskers claimed a 101-83 victory in Big Ten play featuring a 17-point, four-rebound performance from the Croatian. Against Bradley three days prior, Bozan was one rebound away from a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.

"Petra Bozan has started to figure some things out and is finding ways to contribute," Williams said during a Sports Nightly interview in February. "The growth we are seeing out of some of the young players in the program has been positive, but the sense of urgency that you can feel from our seniors is real. That's something we're really tapping into and leaning hard on."
Bozan spent the summer away once again with the Croatian U20 National Team, but managed to still start in Nebraska's first 13 games of the year and the final six games of the season. Over that summer, Bozan would earn a spot on the All-Star Five at the FIBA Eurobasket Division B Championships in Hungary, while the forward averaged over 13 points and six rebounds in seven games to earn third place for the Croatians.
With the losses of Petrie and Bozan, the Nebraska women's basketball roster has lost both of its international players from the 2025-26 roster. Amy Williams has made a point of emphasis to bring more international talent to the roster, as Petrie extended Nebraska's run on Australian star power and Bozan added her talent from Europe.

Bozan had plenty of mentors during her time at Nebraska, including star Alexis Markowski, to play with or sit behind during her first two seasons of college basketball. Although Bozan had spent many of the past season in-and-out of the Huskers' starting lineup, her contributions were ultimately recognized by her teammates throughout the year.
"It helps when there's a massive presence like her down low," Petrie said of Bozan back in December during Nebraska's unbeaten start to the season. "She just does so much for this team, and it might not show up on the stat sheet. I think if you were counting tips, I think she would have had at least four or five (against Oral Roberts) that led to other people getting open or getting the rebound. She just does so much for this team."
While two players are reportedly going to test the transfer portal waters from Nebraska, others have stated their plans to stay in Lincoln. Confirming their return to the roster for next season are sophomore forwards Amiah Hargrove and Natalie Potts, as well as guards Logan Nissley and Kennadi Williams, as each posted to their personal social media pages this week stating their intent.

Nebraska also has incoming four-star freshman Ashlyn Koupal and Ava Miles from the 2026 recruitment class, providing an immediate spark of young talent for the Big Red if Petrie and Bozan elect to move on from Lincoln. Koupal is a top-rated prospect as the No. 11 recruit in the country, while Miles is a top-75 recruit.
The women's college basketball transfer portal officially opens on April 6 and closes on April 20.
