Social Media Erupts as Notre Dame Basketball Gets Embarrassed by SMU

In this story:
Notre Dame has five guaranteed games remaining in the 2025 basketball season. It would take a lot for the Irish to finish in the ACC's bottom three and miss the conference tournament, but after the way things went Wednesday night against SMU, it's not out of the picture.
Notre Dame was routed at home by SMU on Wednesday 97-73 in a game that wasn't ever competitive. The Irish fell to 11-15 overall and just 5-10 in conference play. As you could probably expect after such a rough showing, social media was ablaze during and after the defeat.
Apologies from the Players
"I just want to apologize to all the former players and fans that are staying with us in our corner. That's on us. That shit will never happen again. I'm sorry about that." - Notre Dame SG Braeden Shrewsberrry pic.twitter.com/2tHeeKY1UW

SMU Wasn't Even at Full Strength
Things you didn't think you'd tweet: SMU scores 97 in South Bend and beats Notre Dame by 24 without Boopie Miller.

Irish now 11-15 overall, 5-10 in the ACC.
Brutal season gets brutal-er.
Notre Dame's Awful Start Set Tone Wednesday Night
Don't think it's unfair to say this is the worst first half Notre Dame has played this season. The Irish this year have been known for failing to close out games, but it looks like they didn't come ready at all tonight. SMU is completely dominating.
