Notre Dame's Niele Ivey Named ACC Women's Basketball Coach Of The Year

Niele Ivey is the ACC Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year. Notre Dame’s third-year head coach was announced as the 2022-2023 winner on Tuesday after leading the Fighting Irish to a 24-4 overall record and the ACC’s regular season championship with a 15-3 conference mark.
Ivey is the second Notre Dame coach to be named ACC Coach of the Year. Her Hall of Fame mentor Muffet McGraw won it in 2014 and 2016. Notre Dame’s regular season championship this year is the first for the program since McGraw’s run of conference titles that began in 2014 ended in 2019.
Four Notre Dame players also received All-ACC recognition on Tuesday, with Olivia Miles and Sonia Citron each garnering first-team All-ACC honors.
Miles finished second to Virginia Tech's Elizabeth Kitley in the ACC Player of the Year balloting. Kitley wins the award for the second straight year. Florida State's Ta'Niya Latson finished third, followed by Hailey Van Lith of Louisville.
Miles ended the regular season among the ACC’s leaders in several statistical categories. Her current rankings are: No. 1 assists (6.9), No. 9 scoring. (14.3), No. 7 rebounds (7.3), No. 3 assist to turnover ratio (2.1), No. 5 steals (2.1), No. 7 field goal percentage (46%), and No. 8 free throw percentage (76%). Miles earns ACC first-team honors for the second straight season.
Citron is No. 8 in scoring (14.5), No. 25 in rebounds (5.3), No. 4 in field goal percentage (50%), No. 10 with 1.6 field goals made per game and No. 16 in steals (1.6). Citron was the ACC Rookie of the Year last season.
Maddy Westbeld received second-team recognition. The junior is averaging 10.9 points per game and ranks No. 8 in the ACC with 35 blocked shots.
KK Bransford rounds out Notre Dame’s conference honorees by being named to the All-Freshman team. The Cincinnati, OH native is averaging 8.5 points and 2.8 rebounds per game this season.
