2023 NFL Draft: Projecting Landing Spots For Notre Dame Pass Rusher Isaiah Foskey

In this story:
Just hours away from the 2023 NFL Draft officially kicking off, all the speculation and rumors leading up to the event are about to be proven right or wrong quickly. There has been some wide range of opinions on Notre Dame defensive end Isaiah Foskey, who is one of the more productive and physically gifted pass rushers in the 2023 class.
We have heard everything from the late first round, to somewhere on late day two. Let’s take a look at a few landing spots that could make a lot of sense for Foskey.
Los Angeles Rams - No. 36 overall
It was a season to forget for the defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams in 2022, suffering through a long list of injuries and inconsistencies. The team is in a tough spot when it comes to the salary cap, which has limited its ability to secure a variety of talent at several positions.
One spot that was less than ideal last season was the edge spot, which got good production from Leonard Floyd but virtually nobody else. Your hope for the Rams is the offense gets healthy and you are able to get enough pieces around Aaron Donald to make some plays.
Foskey provides a boost in talent without question. He would also get offered a ton of one on one opportunities working alongside Donald.
Atlanta Falcons - No. 44 overall
The Falcons are going to be depending on a couple of castoffs to provide some pass rush in 2023, including Lorenzo Carter and Bud Dupree. That room obviously needs to get younger and more productive, which Foskey may be able to provide.
He wouldn’t necessarily get thrust into a starting role but could provide some production as a part time rusher almost immediately. That could allow for Foskey to be groomed for a bigger role in year two.
New England Patriots - No. 46 overall
Foskey is exactly the type of edge rusher that the New England Patriots usually value. They love length, power and don’t get scared away by stiffness.
Historically, they have gotten a lot out of guys like Matthew Judon, Deatrich Wise and Trey Flowers. Foskey is their type and could be the next in line of productive pass rushers in New England.
Seattle Seahawks - No. 52 overall
Speaking of a specific type, the Seattle Seahawks are another team that has fallen for the Foskey like rushers in the past. On the current roster, they are relying on guys like Darrell Taylor, Uchenna Nwosu and Boye Mafe to provide production.
While Nwosu was very productive last season, you can never have enough pass rushers. Foskey would almost immediately provide a better version of Taylor and fight for playing time. If not, he is an impressive ball of clay to develop out West.
Chicago Bears (via San Francisco 49ers) - No. 61 overall
The Chicago Bears pass rush needs all the help it can get. Here’s a trivia question, who led the team in sacks this past season? That answer is rookie safety Jaquan Brisker with four total. He was used more out of necessity for an underwhelming pass rush that recorded just 20 sacks as a team.
In the modern NFL, that just isn’t going to get it done. The issue is that the offensive line is also in bad shape so that will most likely be where the first round selection is used.
Foskey immediately bolsters the talent of a less than stellar edge room. Even with him developing a pass rush plan, he should provide immediate production. It may be baptism by fire at times but Foskey would be too talented to keep off the field.
