Notre Dame put together an extremely talented five-man offensive line class during the 2023 recruiting cycle, and that included Belmont (N.C.) South Point star Sullivan Absher

Absher is set to officially enroll at Notre Dame in June, finally beginning a journey that he has been anticipating for some time now. In a recent interview with Irish Breakdown, Absher gave some insight into his training for the transition.

The South Point star feels like the best version of himself. Being a part of the Notre Dame program is already paying off.

"I feel like I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been in,” Absher said. "I have been keeping good weight on and losing bad weight, you can really see and feel the results from Coach (Matt) Balis’ program so far and I’m not even on campus yet.

"We are lifting and running five times a week,” Absher added. "We also have eating plans and tips, how to cook and stuff like that.”

All that work has led to this moment. Absher and the rest of his 2023 classmates who weren't early enrollees are set to begin their Notre Dame careers in June when they enroll for summer school.

“I'm so ready to go,” Absher stated. "I’ve been counting down the days until June 9. I can’t wait to finally get together with the rest of the guys and get to work. Also finally getting to go at it with Coach (Joe) Rudolph coaching me up, I’m really excited to go and get running.”

Now sitting between 305 and 310 pounds, Absher plans to immediately bring physicality to the offensive line. Absher’s control is the work that he plans on putting in every day.

"I want to get there and be the hardest worker in the room, and to come out firing with my best effort,” he said. "I just want to fill whatever role the team needs me to be. I truly just can’t wait to be up in South Bend working hard with all my guys.”

The talented offensive lineman was a key reason for South Point’s 13-2 record during his final season. Absher led a tremendous offensive line that was dominant in the run game. As a team, they averaged 294.8 rushing yards per game, while averaging 6.5 yards per carry and scoring 64 touchdowns.

He opted for the Irish over a host of other impressive offers. Some of the other notable offers included Clemson, Tennessee, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Stanford, NC State, North Carolina, Michigan State, Kentucky, Wake Forest, and Duke among others.
