Illinois Standout McHale Blade Set For Notre Dame Visit
Notre Dame kicks off spring practice this week, giving everyone an early look at what the team could look like in 2024. The team will also be hosting several recruits for practice over next few weeks to let them get an early look as well. That includes 2026 Country Club Hills (Ill.) Hillcrest defensive end McHale Blade, who is a local product that the staff is doing a lot of homework on.
A local product only an hour and a half away, Blade has a great easy appreciation for the Notre Dame program. That should increase this week after the visit.
“Notre Dame has been showing some interest for a while now,” Blade told Irish Breakdown. “I know that they are a very solid program and have a very strong fan base.
“I am most excited to meet the coaching staff in person and build relationships,” Blade continued. “Recruiting has been going well for me so far.”
Despite not holding an offer from the Irish yet, there is a good chance that will change in the future, especially with the Pot of Gold only a couple weeks away. Notre Dame is showing a lot of early interest, and already has momentum with the Illinois standout.
“I am beyond blessed to receive such opportunities to better my future,” Blade said. “Notre Dame has been showing the most interest but as of right now I am just looking forward to building relationships with other schools and see where I best fit.”
Blade has seen his interest increase a ton recently. The Illinois native is now sporting an impressive and growing offer list. Some of his top offers currently include Florida, Miami, Nebraska, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Cincinnati and Indiana.
The 6-5, 230-pound pass rusher is coming off of a promising sophomore season for Hillcrest. Despite being limited to seven games, Blade was able to record 22 total tackles, five tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. Blade also had another six quarterback hurries.
