Notre Dame Commit Davion Dixon Working To Solidify Outstanding 2025 Class

In this story:
Thinking back to April of last year, standout 2025 Miami (Fla.) Palmetto Davion Dixon opted to commit to Notre Dame during the 2023 Blue-Gold Game. It was at the time a pledge that took some off guard but since then, Dixon has helped to build the Notre Dame 2025 class to arguably the top group in the country so far.
Over the weekend, Dixon made it back once again to South Bend. It was his fifth trip to campus, but still provided some new firsts. That included some snow, inclement weather and a particular ice sport.
"The visit overall was amazing,” Dixon told Irish Breakdown. "It was good seeing the winter weather and seeing how it felt but I loved it. My favorite part was probably playing with the snow and going to the hockey game. That was my first hockey game ever and I loved it.”
In total, 11 of 24 Notre Dame commits make the trip to Junior Day this weekend. Dixon got a chance to hang with a lot of those guys and really bond as a unit. He also has his eyes on a certain Southeast defender that he would love to eventually be a part of the class.
"It was good seeing the coaches and the other commits again,” Dixon explained. "We are building up the class trying to get more commits and be that number one class when it is all said and done.
"I was spending time with Dallas Golden the majority of the day,” added Dixon. "I’m trying to get another Florida commit.”
If Notre Dame is able to add Golden, on top of a couple key visitors this past weekend, the Irish class has a chance to be special and arguably the best under Marcus Freeman so far. Dixon will get a big assist on that being the player who kicked it all off. Looking back on his decision, Dixon is locked in and excited to continue building a stellar team in the future.
"The feeling is really good,” he said. "I’m glad we all get along and build great relationships with the 2025 class. This group could be really special if we get all the pieces. I love this group and we are definitely going to bring home that national championship trophy.”
The 6-2, 305-pound defensive tackle is currently rated as a four-star on the Rivals ranking and the No. 16 defensive lineman in the 2025 recruiting class. He chose the Irish over a long list of impressive offers, including Georgia, Ohio State, Miami, Penn State, Florida State, Florida, Auburn, Nebraska, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Maryland, Louisville, UCF, Boston College, West Virginia and Syracuse among several others.
