Notre Dame Commit Justin Thurman Is Pushing For A Special 2025 Class

In this story:
This past weekend was huge for the Notre Dame program, hosting their first Junior Day of the offseason. Most fans want to know about the uncommitted recruits on campus and who is trending toward the Irish. The weekend was also huge for the already committed players in the 2025 class, welcoming 11 of 14 commits in the class back to South Bend.
For the sixth time over, Tampa Bay (Fla.) Jesuit running back Justin Thurman made the trip back. The Florida speedster has become a very important player in the 2025 class for Notre Dame, being a pivotal recruiter for the team. This weekend was about that, but also for Thurman to get back to his Irish family.
"It was an amazing visit starting by being greeted by Chad (Bowden), Dre (Brown), and Carter (Auman) dressed up as leprechauns,” Thurman told Irish Breakdown. "We had a full day of presentations and meetings with a lot of fun activities with all the commits and recruits. The meeting with Coach (Deland) McCullough was definitely at the top of the list.
"Being able to have additional detailed discussion with him on highlights from the Notre Dame season, his philosophy, approach, and how I fit into the program was great,” he continued. "I even got a chance to see some of his professional film. I too have never been to a hockey game. I enjoyed seeing two powerhouse programs battle on the ice, and Notre Dame get the win!”
That time with McCullough, and the rest of the staff, was huge for Thurman. Coming out of the visit, that time was something he is very grateful for.
"Overall, that was the best part of the trip,” he stated. "Being able to reconnect with the Notre Dame coaches and staff, my fellow commits and the recruits was great. Junior Day allowed us to connect in a smaller group. It felt like a family reunion, and it feels that way every time we connect.”
Since Thurman committed to the Irish back in August, he had become one of the pillars of the 2025 class. He has been pushing to help Notre Dame put together a tremendous overall group, helping big time as a main recruiter. That push for talent continued this weekend.
"I spent time with Jack Lange, Dallas Golden, Jerome Bettis Jr. and Owen Strebig to name a few,” Thurman explained. "Recruiting is important. Having spent a lot of time in South Bend, I can give insight on why I chose Notre Dame. I am able to share my perspective and the process I went through to make my commitment and why Notre Dame is the best fit.”
It’s unclear exactly what the 2025 class will look like in the end, but Thurman couldn’t be higher on the future of the team. They have something special brewing in South Bend.
"Our class will be very special,” he said. "We are currently the No. 1 ranked class for 2025. The talent in our class is deep and we are working to lock in some more talented guys. Our time will be here before we know it, and you’ll see. I can’t wait to get on the field with my brothers and see it all come together.
Thurman is currently considered a four-star recruit by 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals. ESPN has him rated the highest, currently sitting as the No. 204 overall player and No. 19 running back in the 2025 recruiting class. The 6-0, 180-pound athlete chose the Irish over offers from Florida, Tennessee, Auburn, Iowa, NC State, Louisville, Purdue, Missouri, UCF, Kansas State, Indiana, Rutgers, Kansas and Vanderbilt among others.
