Notre Dame Commit Justin Thurman Pumped For Junior Day Return

Since 2025 Tampa Bay (Fla.) Jesuit running back Justin Thurman committed to Notre Dame back in August, he has become an important member of the Irish class. Looking back on that decision, the Florida speedster hasn’t regretted it for a second.

"I’m pretty happy with my decision,” Thurman told Irish Breakdown. "I believe it was the right decision for me as Notre Dame feels like the best fit for me holistically in all facets; in academics, athletics, coaching staff, and the environment. I feel at home every time I’m at Notre Dame and feel like it’s the right fit for me.”

This upcoming visit will be largely about building relationships even further. Thurman is excited to see his new Irish family.

"Everything’s been going great,” explained Thurman. “My relationship with the coaches is growing. We talk and text frequently about family, everyday life events, and football. The brotherhood is growing with the other commits. We talk and play video games often to stay in touch. It feels like we, as a 2025 class, will be like family.

“I’m most excited to get back up to South Bend and spend more time with the coaches, commits, and other recruits,” he continued. “We are continuing to build on the chemistry that we have. It will be good to see some of the current Notre Dame players and new family from the 2024 class too. Every time we get together we have a great time.”

The other big layer of this weekend for Thurman is to help continue to build a tremendous 2025 recruiting class. He has been an excellent recruiter for the Irish so far, and that should continue this weekend. Thurman is there to give his experience, opinion and make all the uncommitted targets feel comfortable.

"Sometimes to hear from a different perspective is good,” he said. "I believe I have an important role as a commit because I can share why I chose Notre Dame, how we’re building the best 2025 class, and how Notre Dame is a place where you get the best education and the best football all in one place.”

Thurman is currently considered a four-star recruit by 247Sports, ESPN and Rivals. ESPN has him rated the highest, currently sitting as the No. 204 overall player and No. 19 running back in the 2025 recruiting class. The 6-0, 180-pound athlete chose the Irish over offers from Florida, Tennessee, Auburn, Iowa, NC State, Louisville, Purdue, Missouri, UCF, Kansas State, Indiana, Rutgers, Kansas and Vanderbilt among others.
