Dynamic Athlete Trystan Haynes Goes In Depth On Notre Dame Offer

Standout Oklahoma athlete Trystan Haynes updates recruitment and relationship with Notre Dame

On Monday, the Notre Dame cornerback board in 2025 got even stronger. They extended an offer to Midwest City (Okla.) Carl Albert star athlete Trystan Haynes, who some schools are recruiting as a cornerback, others at wide receiver and some as an athlete.

The Irish staff likes him as a cornerback, where Mike Mickens has continued to raise the bar at the position for the Irish. As it turns out, Haynes is not unfamiliar with Coach Mickens or the Notre Dame program. The two have also been in contact for some time now.

"I would say I was excited,” Haynes told Irish Breakdown. "I’ve been in contact with the coaches for probably a little under a year as of now and finally getting that offer from them was really big to me.

"I like Coach Mickens,” Haynes continued. "He seems like he could really help me through a lot in terms of football and also seems like he really cares for his players.”

In those conversations with the Notre Dame staff, they made sure that Haynes understands why he is a player that they like. It’s the way he carries himself, on top of the athletic skills he possesses.

“They said they liked the passion I played the game with and that from the film they say they know that I love football in terms of just wanting to do anything to help my team,” he explained. “I’m a player who can potentially do a lot for a team.”

Even though there was a previous relationship, Notre Dame is late to the offer party for Haynes, who is a highly ranked prospect. The Oklahoma native is starting to set some visits to various schools. Notre Dame will have to get him to take the trip to have any sort of a chance.

"I’m going to Miami on the week of March 18th,” said Haynes. "Other than that, I don’t have any set dates for places I’m going to visit; however, there are definitely a couple of places I want to get down too. I would say I want to be committed before my senior football season starts ideally.”

Haynes has already put together a sensational offer list, being courted by some of the best programs in all of college football. Some of those top offers include the Irish, Georgia, Alabama, Oklahoma, LSU, Miami, Texas A&M, Nebraska, TCU, Utah, Arkansas, Missouri, Baylor, Stanford, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Houston, Iowa State, Kansa State and Kansas among others.

The 6-2, 160-pound cover man is considered a consensus four-star and top 200 national recruit by every major recruiting platform. Haynes ranks highest by 247Sports, currently sitting as the No. 120 overall player and No. 16 cornerback in the 2025 recruiting class.

The Oklahoma native was a two-way star for the Carl Albert Titans as a junior. In 14 games, Haynes recorded 51 total tackles, three interceptions and seven pass breakups. He also recorded four tackles for loss and three forced fumbles as well.

As if his defensive contributions weren’t enough, Haynes was also outstanding as a wide receiver in 2023. He led the team with 1,009 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns on 45 receptions, averaging an impressive 22.4 yards per reception. Haynes did all that while also returning kicks and punts for the team.
