Florida Speedster Justin Thurman Sets Trip Back To Notre Dame

Notre Dame is starting to find focus in the running back board in the 2025 class, and one of the players in the top group of rushers on that board is Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit speedster Justin Thurman.

After dominating at a Notre Dame evaluation camp in June, Thurman is heading back to Notre Dame for another visit. Thurman informed Irish Breakdown that he plans to be on campus on July 30th for the Notre Dame recruiting barbecue.

In a recent interview with Irish Breakdown, Thurman was very complimentary of the Irish staff. Thurman said, "there is little question that I could thrive at a place like Notre Dame. They have a plan for me, which includes growing as a person, student and player. It’s a short term decision for a massive long term outcome.”

Thurman was a standout at Notre Dame's summer camp, running an outstanding 40-yard dash, thriving in testing drills and looking good during running back workouts. He's quickly developed a strong relationship with position coach Deland McCullough, who has been recruiting the position at a very high level since arriving in 2022.

After that workout, Thurman quickly rose to the top group of backs that McCullough is focusing on. Thurman and Notre Dame have quickly developed a very strong connection.

Thurman is currently considered a four-star recruit by 247Sports and Rivals, and he is ranked by 247Sports as the nation's No. 236 overall player. ESPN ranks him as the No. 260 overall player in the 2025 class. Those rankings speak to his talent, because Thurman has yet to become the lead back for Tampa Jesuit, but that will change in 2023.

The Florida native is already hearing from several top programs. Some of his notable offers include Notre Dame, Florida, Tennessee, Auburn, Iowa, Louisville, Kansas State, NC State, Vanderbilt, Kansas, Purdue, Indiana, Rutgers and UCF among others.
