Georgia Athlete Dalen Penson Sets Notre Dame Visit
When Notre Dame extended an offer to 2025 Tyrone (Ga.) Sandy Creek dual-sport athlete Dalen Penson back on February 21st, a lot of people were curious where things would go moving forward. At the time, Penson talked about setting up a visit to South Bend, a place he had never been.
The 5-11, 165-pound athlete will be making that first trip to Notre Dame on June 2nd for an unofficial visit. It is going to be a busy offseason for Penson, who also has trips set up to Duke (April 4th), Georgia Tech (April 6th), Tulane (April 20th) and Kentucky sometime during his spring break. Penson also has an official visit scheduled for Georgia Tech on June 15th.
When Penson was offered by the Irish, he was an extremely underrated recruit with a smaller offer list and not a single recruiting platform ranking him. The latter has definitely changed, now sitting as a four-star recruit by On3, 247Sports and Rivals. He ranks highest on the On3 ranking, sitting as the No. 100 overall player and No. 11 cornerback in the 2025 class.
He currently holds other offers from Missouri, West Virginia, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Duke, Indiana and Georgia Tech among others. There’s a good chance that list continues to grow moving forward.
The versatile athlete is an incredible offensive weapon with the ball in his hands for the Sandy Creek Patriots. As a junior he hauled in 22 receptions for 452 yards with four touchdowns as a receiver, and carried the ball 103 times for 814 yards with eight touchdowns as a rusher.
As a signal caller, Penson completed 82 of his154 pass attempts for 1,052 yards and eight more touchdowns. That game-breaking ability is exactly the chess piece level of talent the Fighting Irish have been targeting in the 2025 offensive class.
The dynamic athlete is also a fantastic track and field athlete for Sandy Creek. Penson has a personal best of 14.21 in the 110-meter hurdles and triple jump best of 45'10".
