Illinois DL Getting His First Look At Notre Dame
Notre Dame has already begun pursuing some big time 2026 recruits. The program should always be able to keep the top talent in their backyard at home, one of which is Naperville (Ill.) North defensive lineman Gabriel Hill, who will be checking out South Bend on Thursday and taking in a spring practice.
With the Pot of Gold offer event coming up quickly on St. Patrick’s Day, Hill is very much a player to keep a close eye on moving forward to potentially receiving an offer from the Irish. He already had a nice option on Notre Dame, which should continue to grow during the upcoming visit.
“They are a very hard working program which strives to be better than everybody else,” Hill told Irish Breakdown. “They are fantastic coaches who have great credentials and achievements in football.
“I’m excited to build connections with the coaches and see the program first hand,” he continued. “I don’t have any overall expectations. I am more focused about taking it all in.”
Recruiting is just beginning for Hill, who has received interest from some big time schools already. Him getting out to campus should bring a lot more offers to his name. While there are no early standouts, Hill does know what he is looking for.
“I haven’t really had a chance to fully evaluate all the schools interested yet,” said Hill. “The schools that will stand out the most are ones with great cultures and expectations for their players.”
Hill has begun to gain substantial traction on the recruiting side. So far the Illinois native holds offers from Iowa, Illinois, Iowa State and Kent State. That offer list promises to blow up moving forward.
The 6-2, 240-pound pass rusher put together an awesome season as a sophomore. During that campaign, Hill recorded 34 total tackles, 14 tackles for loss, six sacks and two forced fumbles.
