Notre Dame Is Recruiting Elite Athlete Rodney Dunham Hard
Notre Dame kicked off their 2024 Pot of Gold offer even on Sunday, extending offers to over 100 of the top players in the 2026 recruiting class. Among them is Charlotte (N.C.) Myers Park defensive end Rodney Dunham, who has massive upside that the Irish really like coming off the edge.
Being a part of the event was monumental for Dunham, who has been developing a good rapport with the program already. He has been doing a lot of research for what Notre Dame brings to the table, and they continue to impress him.
“When I first got offered by Notre Dame, I didn’t know much about the school,” Dunham told Irish Breakdown. “I knew that they have a great football history. Then I learned more and got really excited.
“I think the Pot of Gold event is great for the student-athletes that have received offers to get more media exposure,” he continued. “I think it’s special to know that you’re getting recruited by Notre Dame and that they want you, and I really like it.”
So far, Notre Dame is among the schools that have been pursuing the North Carolina star the hardest. In fact, they may be putting in the most work, which is a great early sign.
“Recruiting has been good and fun,” Dunham explained. “I’m supposed to visit Florida State, Notre Dame, and Duke this offseason. We are still figuring out those dates.
“The relationship has been great,” Dunham added. “They’ve been recruiting me the best so far.”
Dunham currently holds offers from several schools, with that list continuing to grow. His top offers so far include the Irish, South Carolina, James Madison, East Carolina and Charlotte.
As a sophomore, Dunham was a terror for opposing offenses. In 10 games, the 6-4, 215-pound defensive lineman recorded 55 total tackles, 16 tackles for loss and seven sacks. Dunham also had another 20 quarterback pressures, three interceptions, three pass breakups and a blocked field goal.
To showcase his athleticism, Dunham is also one of the state’s top baseball players. He has topped out at over 90 miles per hour on his fastball recently.
