Notre Dame Offers Local DE Braeden Jones

Notre Dame offers 2026 Illinois defensive end Braeden Jones

Notre Dame has closed on a lot of notable local talent on the defensive line in the 2025 class. That includes Chicago natives Christopher Burgess, Joseph Reiff and hybrid defender Dominik Hulak. The staff hopes to continue that momentum in 2026 with Chicago (Ill.) Mount Carmel defensive lineman Braeden Jones, who was offered on today as a part of the Pot of Gold offer event.

Jones has seen his offer list begin to expand recently. He now holds offers from Notre Dame, Ole Miss, Nebraska, Iowa State and Akron. That group promises to expand exponentially over the next couple of months.

At 6-4 and 235 pounds, Jones put a lot of impressive moments on film as a sophomore. His body type looks eerily similar to Burgess, both having good length and the body type to add substantial weight. Jones looks like an ideal fit as a field end (big end) in Notre Dame’s system under Al Golden.

As is always the case, Notre Dame should always be able to close on the Illinois and Indiana talent that they want. Jones is the latest case of a player that is right in their backyard and there is no reason they shouldn’t be able to close on him in the end.
