The 2025 recruiting class boasts some impressive linebackers, and one of the best is a familiar name. That would be Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy linebacker Nathaniel Owusu-Boateng, who is an Irish legacy that fans remember fondly.

Owusu-Boateng is the younger brother of former Notre Dame All-American linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, who won the Butkus Award and was a dominant player for the Irish 2017-2020. In his final two seasons with the Irish, Owusu-Boateng registered 142 total tackles, 24.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks, an interception, seven pass breakups, five forced fumbles and another four fumble recoveries.

That relationship has helped Notre Dame build a good early connection with the Owusu-Boateng. So much so that Notre Dame is considered one of the top early contenders for the elite linebacker who ranks as the nation's 18th best player according to both Rivals and 247Sports.

"I’m just seeing what schools had to offer on and off the football field," Owusu-Boateng told Irish Breakdown. "I’m just blessed to be in this position. Right now, Florida, Florida State, Miami and Notre Dame are the schools most standing out to me.

"No schools are standing out to me in that top group,” he continued. "I'm just seeing everybody equal, no reason to rush the process but I’m loving what Notre Dame can do for me off and on the field. Their message has been to continue the legacy.”

The Irish staff has been putting in work to really sell the vision to Owusu-Boateng. It has been a group effort so far.

"My relationship with Notre Dame has been great. I have a genuine connection with Coach Al Golden and Dre Brown,” he stated. "Dre and I are really close. I love how he tries to get to know you and is never superficial with you. Coach Golden loves my versatility and the way I just play the game. You know with the brotherhood aspect they have over there is also great as well.”

Anytime you’re talking about an IMG Academy player, there is some pause with just how realistic of a target Notre Dame is for a prospect. Obviously the family ties to Notre Dame help tremendously. The Irish staff will continue to recruit Owusu-Boateng hard until the end.

The former DeMatha Catholic star has been putting together an extremely impressive offer list so far. Some of the notable programs who have extended offers include the Fighting Irish, Ohio State, Michigan, LSU, USC, Penn State, Oregon, Florida State, Texas A&M, Auburn, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Maryland, Wisconsin, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh and Boston College among others.

The 6-2, 210-pound defender spent the first two seasons of his high school career as a part of DeMatha Catholic in Maryland. He has recently announced that he will be transferring to IMG Academy for his final two years.

Owusu-Boateng was previously offered by the staff all the way back on December 15th of 2021. He’s a player that they have been on for a long time.
