Notre Dame Standouts Set For 2024 NFL Scouting Combine

On Thursday, the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine officially kicks off in Indianapolis, Indiana in Lucas Oil Stadium. Over 300 of the top 2024 NFL Draft prospects will be hoping to impress all the NFL scouts, decision makers and coaches in attendance.

Of that long list of talented players, right former Notre Dame players will be participating. It is going to be a long week of on-field testing, team interviews and medicals. Here is what each former Irish standout has at stake.

QB SAM HARTMAN

Although the game was a disaster, Hartman really had a good week down in Mobile at the 2024 Reese’s Senior. The Combine offers another chance for Hartman in front of NFL decision makers, and sell himself as a person and player. On the field, there won’t be a lot that will really raise Hartman’s draft stock. The meeting room and whiteboard are where he could make his money,

RB AUDRIC ESTIME

Estime just put together one of the best seasons for a running back in Notre Dame history. He did so with an outstanding combination of power, vision and explosiveness. The major question mark around Estime is going to be change of direction and flexibility. That would provide some insight into how he could be utilized in space and as a pass receiver. People will hyper focus on the forty time but the change of direction testing will be just as, if not more important.

OT JOE ALT

Alt is one of the rare prospects who won’t have to do too much in Indianapolis. All he has to do is weigh-in, meet with teams and pass medicals. If he chooses to test, great, but it isn’t necessary. He is already viewed as the top offensive tackle in the 2024 class by most teams. This week is about not hurting yourself if you’re Alt and get ready to be selected in the top ten selections in April.

OT BLAKE FISHER

Fisher is in the opposite position as Alt. He needs to wow decision makers in attendance. As an athlete, there’s a good chance he does so. There has never been any doubt that Fisher is extremely talented but just how great does he want to be? That’s where the team meetings come in. Fisher must sell himself and show that he wants to be an excellent player. His upside has to be his biggest selling point.

DE JAVONTAE JEAN-BAPTISTE

It was a week to forget for Jean-Baptiste down at the Senior Bowl, accepting a late invite and proceeding to struggle against the better senior offensive tackles in the class. Jean-Baptiste could really use a strong performance this week, hoping to ride momentum down the stretch. He isn’t expected to test exceptionally well but would be big if so. It’s pretty safe to assume that Jean-Baptiste will do great in interviews but what upside does he have as an athlete?

LB JD BERTRAND

Indianapolis is going to be a big chance for Bertrand to win over evaluators. On film, he is a heady second level defender who brings outstanding communication and consistency to the middle of a defense. When he gets on the whiteboard, Bertrand must wow with his football IQ. On the field, he just needs to show he is a requisite athlete. Anything more is a bonus.

LB MARIST LIUFAU

The big sell for Liufau is as an athlete that can do a lot of things for a defense. There was a lot of inconsistency on his film but it’s the upside, and the versatility that have NFL teams interested. At worst, Liufau has the length and athleticism to stick on special teams on the next level. Showcasing his athleticism will help to show teams his athletic upside, which is a very big sell.

CB CAM HART

First thing is first, the medicals have always been the major question for Hart. With multiple shoulder injuries during his Notre Dame career, scouts and decision makers are going to want to know how he could potentially hold up long term. If Hart can answer those questions, the last step is to wow everyone on the field as a tester. For a cornerback at near 6-3, he should excel with his movement skills.
