Notre Dame Is Trying To Close The Deal With OT Owen Strebig

In this story:
Notre Dame looks poised to put together a tremendous offensive line group in the 2025 recruiting class, having gotten a great early commitment from Connecticut offensive tackle Will Black. One of the important targets on the board is Waukesha (Wisc.) Catholic Memorial star Owen Strebig, who is expected back on campus this weekend for the sixth time.
For a long time, Notre Dame has been thought of as the front runner for Strebig, which hasn’t changed going into this visit. Communication has been constant. The Irish staff has clearly made Strebig a priority, developing a deep appreciation for everything they bring to the table.
"We talk every week,” Strebig said. "The relationship is always great. Coach Rudolph is actually coming to my school sometime soon and obviously I’m visiting this weekend. The communication is constant. For this visit, I’m going to be bringing more family to see everything.”
Having Strebig’s full family on campus is huge for this visit. With the Wisconsin standout having been on campus five times already, there aren’t many questions left unanswered. This weekend is about enjoying his time, and really seeing it South Bend can be home.
"My goal was to have no more questions to ask,” he explained. "I just want to spend the time, and enjoy it all. I’m excited to just see and talk with the coaches, with the other recruits as well.”
During the process, Strebig has even been in touch with a couple current offensive lineman to develop a deeper understanding for what it’s really like to play at Notre Dame. It has been a great asset for him in his decision making process.
"I’ve talked to some current players like Christopher Terek and Peter Jones,” said Strebig. "It’s great to have their perspective and just see what it's like. They don’t lie so it's cool to get a real inside look.”
If that wasn’t enough perspective, Strebig has also been hit up constantly by a bunch of Notre Dame 2025 commits. Some of the names who have been in contact include Deuce Knight, Justin Thurman, James Flanigan, Will Black and CJ May. Those guys have been another great resource for Strebig. He has even developed a great relationship with fellow Irish target Matty Augustine.
"Deuce is my guy,” Strebig stated. "I’ve been talking to a bunch of players at Notre Dame, and some uncommitted guys they are recruiting hard. It’s been great to get to know them all.”
Timelines have been the main question mark about Strebig. The original plan was to take official visits and make a commitment before his senior season. The reason for that was to get all the answers he needed, but not take attention away from what is most important for him.
"It has been great,” Strebig said about his training. "Aside from the season, this is my favorite time. I just love lifting and running. I’m just excited to keep working and getting better. I’m also going to be early enrolling so I’m just grinding right now.
"Recruiting has all been good as well,” he continued. "I’m just so fortunate to be in the position I am in. I have just been taking my time and continuing to keep my head down and grinding, getting ready for next season and getting better.”
That timeline to make a decision does appear to be changing slightly. The 6-8, 290-pound offensive lineman is getting closer to a decision, and is open for a school to solidify everything with him.
"One thing is for sure, I’ll be done before my senior season,” said Strebig. "I still don’t want to rush it but I’m at the point of, if I know then I’ll know. I’ve let the process play out and am ready for everything to solidify.”
Another thing is certain, Notre Dame will be in it until the end. Their pitch has been well received. They want South Bend to be the place to be.
"They just want the Irish to be home,” he said. "They have been consistent with their message. The staff wants me to be a part of a great future.”
Notre Dame has never had problems attracting talented offensive lineman to be a part of the program. Strebig appears to be the next big time recruit that the Irish have a chance to land. He is being courted by some of the top programs in all of college football, including offers from the Irish, Michigan, Florida State, USC, Florida, Miami, Penn State, Texas A&M, Missouri, Nebraska, Arkansas, Stanford, Iowa, Wisconsin, Kentucky, UCLA, UCF, Minnesota, Illinois, Purdue, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan State and Duke among others.
