Notre Dame Wide Receiver Target Derek Meadows Has A Unique Skillset

One of the top standouts from the Notre Dame summer camps was 2025 Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman wide receiver Derek Meadows, who turned an outstanding Irish Invasion performance into a scholarship offer.

Since then, Notre Dame has made recruiting Meadows a priority. The Bishop Gorman star has been getting to know the staff and sees a clear fit. It may have started with the Irish Invasion but the relationship has been taken to a whole other level since.

"I really liked Notre Dame when I went up there,” Meadows explained. "Everything has been building since that trip as well. They are a great school and great people in general. They are really standing out big time.

"My relationship with Coach (Chansi) Stuckey is great,” Meadows continued. "He is a very personable coach and really seems to care about his players. Our relationship is getting stronger and stronger.”

It’s clear that the Irish staff is very high on the Nevada native. Their message has resonated with him.

"Notre Dame’s overall message is that they want me to be a part of the program really badly,” he said. "They tell me that I’m like no other wide receiver. I bring a very unique skill set that can really be valuable for the program.”

Things have begun to heat up on the recruiting world quickly for Meadows. While there isn’t a set timeline, this is a recruitment that could end at any time.

"Overall, my recruitment has gone great so far,” Meadows said. "Right now we’re working out visit schedules. There’s nothing planned yet, but we’ll have some things finalized soon. There isn’t a set timeline. I’m just letting whatever happens happens right now. I can’t wait.”

Meadows has gained a ton of traction on the recruiting trail this off-season. So far he has earned scholarship offers from Notre Dame, Utah, Washington, BYU, Nevada, Colorado State and Hawaii. His offer from the Irish came after Meadows’ performance at the Irish Invasion.

The 6-5, 185-pound pass catcher was a part of yet another dominant Bishop Gorman team in 2022, finishing the season with a 14-1 record. Their only loss was a 24-21 narrow defeat to Mater Dei, who is one of the elite programs in the nation.

While Meadows was seldom used as a sophomore, the expectations are that he will take on a lot of responsibility as a junior. In 2022, Meadows hauled in six receptions for 97 yards and two touchdowns.
